GitHub Copilot X is GitHub's vision for a conversational, repo-aware assistant embedded across the developer workflow. Beyond in-editor completions, it adds chat grounded in your workspace, PR assistance that drafts descriptions and reviews with code citations, and documentation Q&A that links to real references.

In editors, Copilot Chat can explain code, generate tests, and walk through fixes with inline diffs. In pull requests, it summarizes changes, highlights risky areas, and proposes follow-up commits. For docs, it answers questions with links to API references, READMEs, and examples.

As a preview initiative, availability and features may vary, but the direction is consistent: bring high-quality reasoning, context retrieval, and GitHub-native automations into planning, coding, reviewing, and documenting so teams ship faster with fewer context switches.
